Summer Wedding Trends of 2017!

With summer only a couple of months away, it’s time to make your wedding day a fabulous fiesta. High temperatures and peaceful breezes will lead a lot of people to celebrate in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, capturing the freedom of the open air and beautiful sunshine.

There are many things to consider when arranging an outdoor summer wedding. Let’s start with the colour schemes. This summer, hot and exciting colours are in fashion: reds, oranges and yellows can fill your occasion with life and atmosphere. If you’re looking for something a little calmer, don’t be afraid to engage in some mellow greens or blues.

When thinking about tables, the natural look is always a winner for the outdoor celebration. Wooden benches, tables and chairs can pass on a rustic theme, with white table clothes and napkins helping your reception feel clean. Edgy table centrepieces such as hollowed-out watermelons give a fantastic seasonal and tropical feel. Mix this with bright flowers and brass vases to complete the look.

Food can be tricky in summer. Particularly in outdoor environments, traditional sit-down dinners with heavy courses can leave your guests feeling hot and uncomfortable. It’s important to consider more smaller dishes, and tapas can be served as a perfect solution. Inspired by Spanish cuisine, you can have huge platters of small nibbles and guests can help themselves. This keeps conversation alive, and the food and drinks flowing. Don’t forget to finish off with a variety of seasonal fruit such as passionfruit and watermelon.

Next, you’ll need to choose your music. If you’re trying to present a lively, tropical feel to your day, you might consider some mellow acoustic Spanish guitar. This can add to the ambiance without being intrusive. Live music is generally your best option, and an artist that can cater for requests is always a good idea!

As a celebrant, I try to match my outfit to the style and colour scheme. I love wearing beautiful dresses in summer, so this is definitely my favourite wedding season.

Always remember that the main thing is to have fun and relax on your special day!
